When We Were Wee

If you were me
and I were you
and we were very wee
we’d float across a bubble bath
pretend it was the sea.

You upon your rubber toad
and me my yellow duck
and every time a bubble popped
pretend we’d run amok.

My eyes were yours
and yours were mine
we never disagreed
cause you were looking at yourself
while I was seeing me.

We sailed until
at last we came
upon a vast commode
and as you quit the yellow duck
I disembarked the toad.

"Ahoy, ahoy!" I heard me cry
it echoed cross the loo
the voice returned and stranger yet
reminding me of you.

But all good tales
and bubble baths
should end ironically
thus I am I, and you are you
but we’ll be always wee.

Your Brain

Of all the parts you have to scrub
while you are sitting in the tub
your head, your toes, your finger tips
there is one part that you can skip—
Your brain!

You never have to wash this thing
it’s stain-resistant, so pristine
it’s bright and shiny and drip-dry
it gets a bath each time you cry—
Your brain!

And when you're feeling really weird
don’t scrub your tummy or your ears
your neck, your bum,  your back or chin
think cheerful thoughts way down within—
Your brain!

And you will find that when you do
you're mood will turn from black to blue
then in an instant you will view
a happy thought come over you—
Your brain!

A light bulb pops and in a blink
you're feeling better, then you think:
"I can't forget to thank the one who's called:
My funny, happy, always thoughtful
cranky, moody, sometimes awful
noodle, noggin, Einstein's friend—
My Brain!"
